I will be transferring to the University of California, Berkeley in the Fall of 2009. My major is Polical-Economy.

After getting a B.A degree in Political Economy, I will pursue a Masters in Business Administration, hopefully at the University of Chicago or Stanford University. My long term goal is to start a non-profit organization that will provide equal access to education to everyone.

I am a strong advocate of youth empowerment. Most of my time has been dedicated to developing programs and establishing alliances that encourage youth and community involvement in providing equal access to education and improving social status for all.

Student Senate for California Community Colleges
I am honored to serve as the Region IV Senator, serving millions of students across the state. providing me the opportunity to work with students of different ethnic backgrounds, people of all ages who come from different social statuses, those with different perspectives. My work has been to negotiate student priorities with statewide delegation and testify on behalf of students to the Governor's office to influence policymaking. I have also created accountability measures and communication pathways to effectively present all students in the system.

                Economics and Law Association
I co-founded the Economics and Law Association, hoping to establish an environment for students to explore and acquire knowledge of the inter-relationship between law and economics and its practicality in the real world. This association exposes its members and interested students to businesses, partnerships and today's challenges in the business world. To learn more about this association, check out:    http://clubeconlaw.com/

                Inter Club Council
I served as the De Anza Inter Club Council Chair of Finance 2006-2007. My work was to manage all financial transactions and fundraising activities, and was a spokesperson to the De Anza ASB Budget and Finance Committee and the DASB as a whole.

Vice President of Administration, De Anza Associated Student Body (DASB)
I dedicated my time to training, supporting and monitoring student senators to become effective leaders at school and in their community. As the Vice President, my job was writing, editing and critically evaluating the DASB bylaws, constitutions, rules and regulations as well as constructing and enforcing the Code of Conduct. I developed strategies in effective training and providing workshops and resources for internal and external usage.

Commanding Officer, Navy Junior Reserve Officer Training Corp
I managed the entire battalion. I drilled new cadets, new officers and chiefs, and I am the spokesperson for the school. I managed all departments and offices, I am the liaison between my instructors/cadets and the school principle/staff. I was responsible training the drill team commanders to prepare for physical and drill competitions as well as the Annual Military Inspection. Lastly, I designed strategies to market and recruit new cadets to the program.

                Cambodian Language School
I developed a curriculum that exposes students to the Cambodian language, culture and perspectives. For more information, check out:  caraweb.org

San Jose Cambodian New Year Committee
As a committee, we plan, funraise and host the annual Cambodian New Year festival for the community. I love this very much because I get to learn more about my traditions and culture and simultaneously apply what I have learned in school and put those skills to work.

I recently finished my collaboration with the California Community College Student Affairs Association, working to combine the CCCSAA Leadership Conference and the SSCCC General Assembly. For more information, check out       http://www.cccsaa.org/

These are just some of the exciting things that I have done. I enjoy making a difference and explore the world while creating opportunities for others to do the same.
